YARDMAN / FORKLIFT OPERATOR
LOCATION: WHANGAREI
REPORTS TO: REINFORCING DIVISION MANAGER
JOB PURPOSE:

The Yardman / Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, storage, loading, unloading, and movement of reinforcing steel products throughout the yard and factory. This role ensures customer orders are prepared accurately, materials are stored correctly, and all yard operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Yard Operations
- Receive, unload, and check incoming deliveries of reinforcing steel and related materials.
- Store materials in designated locations within the yard and factory.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised yard at all times.
- Assist with stock control and stocktaking activities.
- Ensure materials are identified, labelled, and stored safely.
Forklift Operation
- Operate forklifts and other approved lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks in accordance with site procedures.
- Transport reinforcing steel products between production areas and storage locations.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance checks on forklifts and equipment.
- Report equipment faults or safety concerns promptly.
Order Preparation & Dispatch
- Pick, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately.
- Assist with loading customer deliveries and transport vehicles.
- Verify quantities and product descriptions against delivery documentation.
- Ensure loads are secured safely and comply with transport requirements.
General Duties
- Assist production staff as required.
- Carry out general yard maintenance and housekeeping.
- To complete any other assignments, projects or responsibilities delegated or assigned by the Manager.
Ensure all other tasks, projects, assignments or responsibilities delegated or assigned by the Manager / Foreman are completed accurately, professionally and in a timely manner.
Health and Safety
Ensure you and all staff working with and around you, are following correct H & S policies and procedures and wearing/using the correct PPE at all times. Provide assistance to Busck in implementing and complying with the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and the Companies Health and Safety policies & procedures.

The employee shall be familiar with and work to maintain the Busck Quality Management Systems relevant to their role. The employee shall follow Busck documented procedures and processes at all times to ensure the Busck product quality and quality management system are maintained.
